Fellow Chartered Accountant | Bachelor of Commerce | Authorised Representative of Executive Wealth Management (#234886) | Diploma of Financial Planning | SPAA SMSF Specialist Advisor | Registered Company Auditor | Chartered Tax Adviser | ASIC Registered SMSF Auditor
Nicholas has been working in the Accounting profession since 1989. He began his career in a 4 Partner Chartered Accounting Practice where he remained up until 1994. He then established RM Chartered Accountants based in Wollongong in 1995 and built the practice up to 7 staff. In 1998 the firm achieved the NSW Best Small Practice Award from the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
In 2002 he moved back to Sydney and established Strategic Wealth Management in Sydney’s CBD. He identified a large deficiency between a mainstream accounting practice and a tax/financial adviser. Nick then spent much of his time researching & educating himself on various types of investment structures including trusts and SMSF’s.
From 2005-2011, Nick was often called on to present as a speaker on tax structures, SMSF’s and tax planning for property investors on behalf of various property education groups. He was also a regular speaker for “The Reno Kings” in their Property to the Max seminars and has been interviewed for articles in API and SMSF.
In 2006, along with some other like minded investors, Nick became a founding director and contributed to the establishment of an online forum and education portal for investors www.invested.com.au. At the time of writing, membership was in excess of 12,000 people and continuing to grow steadily. Membership is free and provides a valuable resource for all investors.
Strategic Wealth Management has evolved into a firm of Specialists in the area of SMSF’s. Nick has built a strong team around him that understand the ever changing superannuation laws. Nick specialises in the structuring of a fund ensuring that investments & insurances are optimised in a tax effective manner. SWM has assisted clients to borrow through super for property purchases using Bare Trusts or Unit Trusts.
Strategic Wealth Management also undertakes in excess of 100 SMSF audits on behalf of other Accounting firms. To do this Nick has to ensure that education, compliance and confidentiality is maintained at the highest standard with all of his staff. The professional staff attend external training courses on a regular basis to stay up to date in this field.
Nick has the added benefit of being a financial planner as well as a Chartered Accountant. This gives him a significant advantage over an adviser who may fall into one category but not the other. Nick can assess your financial position, your investments or insurance requirements in an impartial manner without being concerned that he will try and sell you a financial product for the sake of receiving a commission.
Outside of work, Nick has 3 growing daughters which keep him on his toes. Nick follows most major sports and is a family man. He enjoys playing tennis and the occasional game of soccer. He enjoys spending time with friends and family and you will never leave Nick’s place with an empty stomach. Pepper crusted scotch fillet is his specialty on the BBQ as well as traditional Greek souvlaki with haloumi cheese which matches nicely with a glass of red wine to complete the feast.
