Jobkeeper 2.0 Update

The Federal Government have now legislated some changes to the JobKeeper Scheme following their recent announcement that the employee eligibility would be expanded.
What are the changes?
The changes are outlined on the Australian Government ‘The Treasury’ website, a link to which can be found here.

Jobkeeper 2.0 is coming

JobKeeper 2.0 presents a new series of eligibility challenges, timing issues, compliance problems and tapering rates and levels of support for stressed businesses and their employees.
JobSeeker will scale back and income testing rules will change. Sole traders, contractors and the self-employed will need to consider the interaction between JobKeeper and tightening JobSeeker eligibility

Important JobKeeper Information
07 April 2020
The Government has announced a $130 billion JobKeeper payment to help keep more Australians in jobs and support businesses affected by the significant economic impact caused by the Coronavirus.
Around 6 million workers will receive a fortnightly payment of $1,500 (before tax) through their employer.
The payment ensures eligible employers remain connected to their workforce and will help businesses restart quickly when the crisis is over.
